Carlos Berlocq Magical Win Against Gerald Melzer

The Aussie youngster Gerald Melzer was defeated by Carlos Berlocq of Argentina in the opening round of Erste Bank Open that is going on in the capital city of Austria.

It was only the 7th time that Gerald was featuring on the tour and considering his inexperience, he put up a good show.
In the first set yes, he was ordinary, but, thereafter, he pushed his opponent and at one point of time, he was threatening to take the match into the third set.

It wasn’t to be though as in the tie breaker, he lost it under pressure.

Gerald is actually not the only tennis player in his family. His elder brother Jurgen also plays at the professional level.
Jurgen is now close to the end of his career, but, at one point of time, he was in the top 10 players in the world. He was ranked 8th.

Gerald would also like to walk on the footsteps of his brother and achieve that ranking somewhere down the line in his career.
Gerald is just 24 at the moment. So, the time has come for him to flourish. So far, he has not even one win under his belt on tour. He has played 7 games and has lost all 7, but, in the recent games, he has shown that he is getting better.
As far as Berlocq is concerned, he will take on Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in his next game.

Kohlschreiber, who has been given the 4th seed, has been in the semis twice here in Vienna in the past. So, he has the knowledge of the conditions and he is a hard player to beat.

Berlocq will surely have to put in much more effort in that match as Kohlschreiber would not give him too much of a margin for error.
