STOSUR CRASHES OUT

Samantha Stosur has been defeated in the third round of the Rogers Cup by Lucie Safarova of Czech Republic. Safarova won the match in the straight sets by 7-6(9), 7-6(5). It was a very close match and both the players played some brilliant tennis.

Both the sets went into the tie breaker and the spectators enjoyed the match a lot. Safarova, who is ranked 23rd in the official rankings of WTA, didn’t lose her calmness in the tie breakers and pulled off an upset. The match went on for 2 hours and 10 minutes.

Safarova served brilliantly and fired a total of 11 aces in the match. There was not much difference in the playing standard of both the players. It was just the matter of holding nerves and Safarova did it better than Stosur. Both the players broke each other’s service thrice in the whole game.

Stosur took the lead in both the sets, but, she lost the advantage both times and allowed Safarova to take the match away from her.

Stosur looked pretty disappointed after being knocked out of the tournament by a lower ranked player. The match went against the online betting from Bet Victor, which had predicted a relatively straight-forward win for the young American.

She said that you need to grab your chances at this level and after missing so many opportunities, you can’t expect to win a match. As per Stosur, she should have won both the sets easily, but, unfortunately, she wasn’t able to maintain the lead in both the sets.

Stosur told Bet Victor that she doesn’t want to think much about this defeat. She would have to play in the Cincinatti tournament after a few days and she is looking forward to that.

After defeating one of the top 10 players in the world, Safarova looked pretty happy. She said that it wasn’t easy to compete against Stosur. But, she is happy that she played well in both the tie breakers and won the match. In the quarter final, Safarova will play against Roberta Vinci of Italy.
