MURRAY DEFEATS WAWRINKA

Andy Murray has defeated Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland in the men’s tennis singles tournament of London Olympics and moved into the second round. Murray won the match easily in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3. The world no. 1 Roger Federer watched the match from the players’ box. Murray was playing his first match after the Wimbledon final. He won the match in just 89 minutes.

Wawrinka started well in the first set and played some good shots. At the end of the seventh game of the first set, the score was 4-3. But, in the eighth game of the first set, the British superstar was able to get the breakthrough. Thereafter, Murray saved his service in the ninth game and won the first set by 6-3. In the second set, Murray was on his peak. In the very first game of the second set, he broke the service of Wawrinka and then saved his service in the next game to take a lead of 2-0. Both the players saved their service in the next six games and the score was 5-3. But, in the ninth game of the set, Wawrinka was not able to hold his service and he lost the match.

After the match, Murray said that it is always nice to play on the centre court. The atmosphere was fantastic and he enjoyed the match a lot. As per Murray, after losing the doubles match on Sunday, he was under a bit of pressure. But, he is breathing easier after winning the first round match in the singles event. Murray played with his brother Jamie in the doubles competition, but, the pair lost the first round match against the Australian pair of Alexander Peya and Jurgen Melzer. As per Murray, if he wins the gold medal, it would be the happiest moment of his life.
